The Bodywork

The Jeans special edition reappeared in 1995 in Mexico. This "Vocho"—the nickname given to the Beetle in Mexico—was reserved exclusively for the local market. Based on the 1995 model year and sharing all its standard features, the Sedan Jeans was offered in two colors: LG5F "Azul Mezclilla" (Denim Blue) and LA4A "Azul Violeta Metálico" (Violet Blue Metallic). A "Jeans" script decal runs along the sides, underlined by stylized stitching graphics, while a round "VOLKSWAGEN Jeans" badge is positioned on the right side of the engine lid. For the first time in the history of the Jeans editions, all original chrome trim remains present. Mechanically, it features front disc brakes and the 1600 cc fuel-injected engine typical of Mexican production from this era.

The Interior

The upholstery is covered in blue denim with red-orange stitching. Two embroidered pockets adorn the back of the front seats, and the headrests are height-adjustable. The door panels are black. The white headliner is a full-length model. The dashboard is padded, and the steering wheel is a thick four-spoke design.

The Equipment

Thanks to period documents from a 1995 Jeans model, we can map out the standard equipment list delivered to the Mexican market for this modern generation. While remaining faithful to the original spirit, the 1990s Mexican Jeans adopted contemporary standards for safety and emission controls, while showcasing its exclusive aesthetic details. The original VW dealership invoice explicitly records this specific "Jeans" version description. Here is the translation:

JEANS EDITION EQUIPMENT: Tinted glass, blue denim fabric seats with red stitching, jean-pocket style storage pouches on the front seatbacks, rear parcel shelf with access hatch, fold-down rear seat for increased cargo space, AM/FM cassette radio with VW logo, steel wheels with VW plastic central hubcaps and lug nut covers.
SAFETY: Front disc brakes and rear drum brakes, diagonal split braking system, acoustic and optical alarm with a high-security "chapa bancaria" key lock.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS: 1600 cc 44 hp engine with electronic fuel injection and factory emission control system, 4-speed manual transmission, worm and roller mechanical steering.
